I have 2 antique dolls. How do i price them?

Question by : I have 2 antique dolls. How do i price them?
One is made of porcelain and stuffed with sawdust. It has the signature N.Looney on the back in between the shoulders. The other is made of Celluloid. The eyes open and close and it cries. Both are in pretty fair to poor condition but i would like to talk to someone that knows what they are talking about. Thanks

Answer by Nonnie22I’m not the person who knows what I’m talking about in terms of the value of your dolls, but I can recommend that you look at closed auctions for similar items on eBay. It will show you what the market for them currently is. I’m not . . . → Read More: I have 2 antique dolls. How do i price them?

Information on my Kewpie Doll?

Question by Eloise *****: Information on my Kewpie Doll?
Recently i recived a Kewpie doll from my Grandmother. I am sure it is not an original Rose o’ Neill one. It has no visible markings oon its feet, back or neck. It is exactly one inch tall and is wearing nothing but a moulded on red faded hood. Its eyes are blue and are looking up to the left. I belive she is made of hard plastic and has mold lines along her sides and the bottom of her feet although she may be made of celluloid but i doubt it. If you have any information it would be excelent!!

Very Old Antique/Vintage Doll [1920-30s]?

Question by Simply Here: Very Old Antique/Vintage Doll [1920-30s]?
I work at a store similar to goodwill and stuff where we sell donated items. We tend to get a lot of very valuable things. A lady came in and brought us a doll. She got her as a gift when she was a child either in 1930 or 32 somewhere in there and she said she is nothing but 100% original. her; her outfit; diaper everything. The only problem is we don’t actually know what she’s worth if anything. We can’t figure out what kind of doll she actually is. She doesn’t have a trademark or anything on her that we’ve been able to locate. No idea what she is period. We . . . → Read More: Very Old Antique/Vintage Doll [1920-30s]?

10 pts. to first person to help with antique doll question?

Question by Teddy: 10 pts. to first person to help with antique doll question?
I am interested in selling a “family heirloom” that I inherited as a child. “Ruthy” has been in my family for at least 78 years; my grandmother played with her as a child during the 30s, and I believe my great-grandmother (who died at 96 in the early 90s) may have owned Ruthy, as well. Ruthy may have origninally come from Europe, but I would have to ask my grandmother.

Ruthy is either a composition or celluloid doll measuring roughly 20 inches from head to toe. She has a flange neck, open/closed mouth, molded ears, and faded “sleep eyes” with eyelashes made of real hair/fur of . . . → Read More: 10 pts. to first person to help with antique doll question?

i have an old doll with a hard celluloid or Porcelain like face and stuffed body?

Question by libra love: i have an old doll with a hard celluloid or Porcelain like face and stuffed body?
im having a hard time identifying its roots or value does anyone know a good website

Best answer:

Answer by eyjudeI would suggest BOOKS .. there are many books out there on dolls (go to barns and noble etc)
or go to several Antique shops. or call around and find someone who does an appraisal.

Is the doll in good shape? with clothes ? not scarred? Then it is worth more than if in bad condition.
good luck

celluloid doll restoration?

Question by wangdalkorean_1980: celluloid doll restoration?
hi there,

my name is Ken I am from Manila Philippines. I got your contact details through Yahoo! Answer link.

I am a doll collector. I like Japanese dolls , porcelain dolls and lastly I am seeing a joy in celluloid dolls. To be honest celluloid dolls were abundant in Manila 25 years ago (I am in 29 years old now). I just regret that I did not start doll collection at an early age due to various reasons.

Anyways, I am willing to restore these dolls my colleague gave me. I know that I can still make the best out of them. Some for obvious reasons need cleaning and washing but how?

Hope you can help me.

Thank you
